Music & Youth Initiative Announces the Opening of the Second Music Clubhouse

September 6, 2006 Boston, MA

The Music & Youth Initiative, in partnership with the Berklee College of Music and the West End House Boys and Girls Club, is pleased to announce the opening of the West End House Music Clubhouse. (www.wehmusicclubhouse.org)

The clubhouse will serve youth ages 10-18 in the Allston/Brighton community.  This after school music program will feature a variety of music lessons including guitar, keyboard, drums and vocals.  Open studio time at the clubhouse will be available for Clubhouse members to practice, listen to music, and collaborate.  The clubhouse will also have a recording studio where members can produce their own CD’s.  The Music Clubhouse will also sponsor “open mic” nights to showcase performances by Clubhouse members for family, friends and the community.

Leveraging on our experience with the Lawrence Music Clubhouse, we are very excited to work with the Boys and Girls Club in developing this clubhouse.  “We are looking forward to the WEH developing programming tailored to their community while maintaining the key elements of the Music Clubhouse program”, said Gary Eichhorn, Executive Director of the Music & Youth Initiative.  “We are also very excited about our partnership with the Berklee College of Music who will be contributing work-study students and equipment to this clubhouse.”
