Music and Youth Initiative's vision is to develop and fund after-school music education and enrichment programs. Our programs give young people in underserved urban communities the opportunity to build self-confidence and interpersonal skills, as well as foster an appreciation of music. In this newsletter, we are pleased to report that we now have two Music Clubhouses, one serving the Lawrence MA area and one in the Boston area. We are very excited about the overwhelming response from the youth of both of these communities.

The Lawrence Music Clubhouse (LMC), hosted by and in partnership with the Lawrence YMCA, has now been serving the youth of that community for two years! During that time, they have averaged over 100 youth per week who have had the opportunity to learn Keyboards, Drums, Guitar and Vocals.

As a way to share what they have learned, the LMC members love "Open Mic Night" where they get to perform in front of friends and family. You can really see the difference this program makes in kids' lives as you watch the performers' nervous energy and the great sense of pride as they complete their performance!!

We are very pleased to announce that our second Music Clubhouse recently opened at the West End House Boys and Girls Clubs in the Allston neighborhood of Boston. In addition to a great facility with instruments and recording equipment, instructors are being supplied by the Berklee College of Music, a world-class Music College! We are very excited about this collaborative relationship between Music and Youth and Berklee. Sessions in guitar, keyboard, drums and recording are now being organized at the Clubhouse.

Music and Youth Initiative is a public charity and depends on your generous donations to continue bringing music education to underserved urban communities. In the coming year, we are hoping to open a third Music Clubhouse. We are very grateful to our current donors and would appreciate your considering supporting our work. Our website has much more information about our program and a convenient on-line donation capability. We very much appreciate whatever level of support you can provide.
