Several Needham High a cappella groups took part in the annual Vocal Support concert to benefit the Boston-based non-profit organization Music & Youth.

The students presented the $2,500 that they raised at the concert to Music & Youth board member Heather Sullivan at the high school this week.

According to a press release, the students realized “the importance of music in their own lives, as well as the absence of access to music instruction for many students in Massachusetts” when deciding to once again donate the funds to Music & Youth.

The organization, as stated on its website, attempts to “give young people in underserved communities the opportunity to build self-confidence and interpersonal skills while fostering an appreciation of music.”

The a cappella groups will once again take the stage on January 24 for the annual A Cappella Go concert at Needham High. The 2015 Vocal Support concert will take place on May 9.
