Announcing Donation Received from Avid Technology, Inc.

The Music & Youth Initiative is very pleased to announce a generous donation
from the Avid Technlogy, Inc. for Digidesign hardware and ProTools software for all
six of our Music Clubhouses! These industry leading products will enable each
Music Clubhouse to take their recording studio to the next level and will give
Music Clubhouse members the tools they need to create and produce professional
recordings and CDs.
Because the clubhouses will be standardizing on the Avid hardware and software,
Clubhouses can coordinate training, share best practices and collaborate.
Recently, four Music Clubhouses collaborated to produce a compilation CD
which was mixed and mastered at the Berklee College of Music.
This effort taught valuable skills in music recording and production as well as learning to use sophisticated software and hardware. As important, the project provided a chance to build bridges between youth in different communities that were able to share their love of music as a common bond. We very much appreciate Berklee's continued generosity in making special programs like this available to the Music Clubhouses.
We are greatly appreciative of Avid's generosity. We also want to thank Dave Garlough, a volunteer for Music & Youth, who has spearheaded the Avid relationship, and David Bickel, Lawrence Music Clubhouse director, who initiated and continues to be a focal point in our relationship with Avid.
