2010 Clubhouse-Wide Idol A Big Success!

On Saturday May 22 in front of a packed house at the David Friend Recital Hall at
the Berklee College of Music, five contestants - winners of the Clubhouse Idol
competitions from the Blue Hill, Hyde Square Task Force, Lawrence, Sociedad
Latina and West End House Music Clubhouses - vied for the title of Clubhouse-Wide
Idol!
The winner of 2010 Clubhouse-Wide Idol, Athalia from Sociedad Latina, sang “Cry”
by Rhianna. Congratulations to Athalia!
Adding to the festivities was a great ensemble performance by the Blue Hill Music
Clubhouse featuring an original song written by a Music Clubhouse member, Yung
Fresh. They brought down the house!!
It was great to see the high level of talent of all the participants and it was wonderful to see how music brought together five young people from different neighborhoods together, to bond and develop friendships through their common love of music.
The Saturday before the Idol competition, Berklee sponsored an all day program for the contestants, where they were given instruction on performance, wardrobe, and vocal training by Berklee staff.
Thank you to all the Music Clubhouses and the Music Clubhouse directors who work so hard each day to bring music into the lives of the youth in their neighborhoods. A special thank you to the Berklee College of Music who does so much, not just in hosting this event, but also in providing educational opportunities, and supporting the Music Clubhouses with staffing and equipment.
We are already looking forward to Clubhouse-Wide Idol 2011!
